ACE Milestone Alert!
We are thrilled to announce that America’s Cutting Edge (ACE), a workforce training initiative managed by IACMI, has hit four more major milestones:
- 2,500 online participants from all 50 states
- 500 participants in the online metrology course
- 150 completions of the in-person ACE bootcamp training
- 83 consecutive weeks of growth of the program
ACE offers free training to help address the skills gap that’s been widening for decades in U.S. manufacturing. We have more bootcamps scheduled in July, including one focused on composites with Dr. Uday Vaidya.
Ms. Adele Ratcliff, one of our keynote speakers at IACMI’s Members Meeting in Salt Lake City, put it this way: “Whoever you are, wherever you are, there is a place for you in manufacturing, and ACE can help you realize your dreams as an individual. ACE can be a pathway to prosperity for you and your community while contributing to the economic security of our country.”
We are making a difference, but there’s always room for more! Learn more about ACE and sign up today!

DOE Will Fund Applied Research and Development to Accelerate Decarbonization of American Industry
In June, DOE announced its intent to issue a funding opportunity announcement (FOA) that will support DOE’s efforts to decarbonize the American industrial sector and move the U.S. toward net-zero carbon emissions. The new FOA will support the advancement of a range of decarbonization technologies that can shrink the carbon footprint of America’s vital industries.
The “Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization FOA” is expected to include the following topics, applying the four industrial decarbonization pathways to energy-intensive American industries where decarbonization technologies could have the greatest impact:
- Decarbonizing Chemicals
- Decarbonizing Iron and Steel
- Decarbonizing Food and Beverage Products
- Decarbonizing Cement and Concrete
- Decarbonizing Paper and Forest Products
- Cross-sector Decarbonization Technologies
DOE’s Advanced Manufacturing Office plans to issue the FOA via EERE Exchange in August 2022.
