Colorado Wind Energy Workshop Centers on Advanced Materials, Processes
“The Future of Wind Energy is Now” workshop got off to a great start yesterday in Arvada, Co. at the Composites Manufacturing Education and Technology Facility (CoMET), housed at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Hosted by Composites One and IACMI, the event has drawn 120+ people from 50 companies from all over the country and the world--as far as Denmark, Finland, Germany and Brazil. The group is seeing live demos on the latest products and techniques to repair blades in the field. They are also hearing how the most comprehensive clean energy package in American history is enabling DOE to give wind manufacturers a decade+ roadmap for business development. The event features IACMI members Composites One, Magnum Venus Products, Carbon Rivers, Inc., Perseus Materials, NREL, and Owens Corning.

Webinar Features Environmental Living Industries, Carbon Fiber CF Recycling, and Baylor University
On Tuesday, February 20, at 12PM ET, join us for a one-hour series of presentations where IACMI members will share application examples and key advantages of new technology and products. Speakers are Bryan Wilson and Kyle Huttenlocker from Environmental Living Industries, Jeff Hall from Carbon Fiber Recycling, and Dr. David Jack from Baylor University.

Join IACMI at JEC World 2024
IACMI is gearing up to engage with industry leaders in the global composites community at JEC World 2024 in Paris March 5-7. We invite you to visit booth 6Q32 in the U.S. Pavilion to meet with the IACMI team, including CEO Chad Duty, EVP/CCO Dale Brosius, CTO Uday Vaidya, VP Workforce Joannie Harmon, and VP Communications Mark Morrison. In addition, some of IACMI’s Technical Area Directors will be attending.
On March 5, Dale is moderating, Composite Materials and Sustainable Transportation: Paving the Way Forward, a session that investigates the pivotal role that composite materials play as the world embraces sustainable practices.

Brosius Joins Manufacturing USA Panel at SXSW
IACMI EVP/CCO Dale Brosius will join panelists from CESMII, NextFlex, and REMADE – all in the Manufacturing USA network – to speak on “Reimagining Energy Use with Digital Technology” at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 9 in Austin, Texas. SXSW is the largest annual conference that celebrates innovation and technology. The panelists will discuss how digital technology enables clean energy, helps reduce industrial emissions, and will assist in recycling, remanufacturing, and converting waste into fuels. If you are heading to SXSW, come by and listen to the panel on March 9 at 4 PM CT at the Austin Convention Center, Room 6AB.

DOE Establishing Center of Excellence to Accelerate Domestic Offshore Wind Industry
DOE today announced it is investing $4.75 million to establish a new national center of excellence to accelerate reliable and equitable offshore wind energy deployment across the nation. The Academic Center for Reliability and Resilience of Offshore Wind (ARROW), led by the University of Massachusetts Amherst with approximately 40 partners, will focus on workforce development, targeted research, and partnerships and strategies to embed equity in offshore wind development.

DOE Announces Funding Opportunity to Advance Domestic Manufacturing of Next Generation Batteries
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO) released a $15.7 million funding opportunity to advance the domestic manufacturing of next generation batteries and energy storage. AMMTO is seeking concept papers for projects that will advance platform technologies upon which battery manufacturing capabilities can be built. This research and development will improve manufacturability and scalability. Deadline to submit concept papers is March 4, 2024.
