Members Learn About Opportunities
for New IACMI-DOE Sponsored Technical Projects
On Tuesday (Sept. 12), IACMI’s Dale Brosius (EVP & CCO) and Erin Brophy (COO) presented a webinar to active IACMI members about opportunities for participating in our future projects. The goal was to give examples of previous successful technical projects and lay out the process for communicating ideas, gathering partnerships, and submitting proposals for future ones. Those being considered for funding should fall within our focused markets of Wind Energy, Electric Vehicles, and Hydrogen Storage or have cross-cutting R&D elements related to Circular Economy and Life Cycle Analysis, Digitalization and Industry 4.0, or Materials and Processes. All interested parties should fill out an IACMI Idea Paper and email them to projects@iacmi.org. (Idea Paper, webinar video and presentation available at link below.)
“I want to emphasize we’re looking for a variety of projects in size, scope, and focus for our portfolio,” said Dale Brosius. “If you have products or technologies you believe can help IACMI achieve the DOE goals, we can help you identify a project and potential partners. We’re here to help make those connections.” There is no current deadline for submissions, but ideas will be evaluated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Counting Down to CAMX2023
IACMI members are counting down the days to CAMX2023 in Atlanta! We caught up with IACMI member and Composite Applications Group's Peter Hedger Jr. to talk about CAMX, lightweight materials and aerospace. "Aerospace is increasingly focused on lightweight materials to reduce fuel consumption and emissions," he shared. "Composite materials, such as carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRPs), are ideal for lightweighting, and composite curing solutions that can process these materials efficiently and effectively are in high demand.” Peter and CAG are lining up an aerospace-themed “fireside chat” on Oct. 31 at 3:30PM ET at CAMX Park Place (U66) featuring Bob Koon from Lockheed Martin, and others. IACMI is also gearing up for CAMX. Look for Chad Duty, Dale Brosius, Uday Vaidya, Joannie Harmon, Mark Morrison, and Margaret Slattery at Booth E-20.

National Manufacturing Day is October 6
Over the next decade, 4 million manufacturing jobs will need to be filled in the U.S. alone. IACMI members across the country are joining the movement to fill the skills gap and inspire the future workforce by hosting an #MFGDay23 event. In fact, IACMI SuRF (Michigan State University) in Detroit and MSC and TN MADE (University of Tennessee) in Knoxville are gearing up to host hundreds of students and educators to showcase the dynamic world of modern manufacturing and its endless possibilities. Drop us a note at info@iacmi.org and let us know what activities you have lined up.
